How famous people interpret Festival Outfit Hint
Coachella was on this week, which is a big, fat music festival in California and actually sounds kind of awesome. What was most awesome, though, was celebrityoutfitwatching. Because, I don know about you (except for the fact that you on the internet right now, reading this, which is kind of spooky when you think about it), but when I am faced with a casualbutmustlookcool, day time attire situation, I falter quite spectacularly, and usually end up wearing my usual gold bikini, perspex heels, long, blowdried hair and a slick of honey combo.
I sure if I were famous I would be MUCH better at this game. Famous people are awesome at this game. They know what to wear. How to do their hair so it cool and effortlessish. Which sunglasses are cool and great right this second. Allow me to show you some proof, which will double as inspiration if you off to Splendour in The Grass later in the year, or for a hip camping trip (the best kind) this Anzac long weekend maybe.
The hot and sexy bird: Miss KATY PERRY
A skintight, heavy metal, plunging, backless minidress might sound ludicrous for a music festival, and you be right, but somehow Miss PERRY makes this dress look rather hot. That said, it might be because we used to seeing her in glittering leotards, so anything less glitzy than that seems
What saves/makes it: The hellercool sunglasses and the simple, blunt hair. She appears to be wearing little or no makeup THANK THE LAWD a red lipstick here would tip this outfit into the Sleaze Pool.
The glamorous bird: Miss DITA VON TEESE
I love this picture of Miss VON TEESE because her smile just smacks of, you thought I was going to slum down and drop my polished appearance for some music festival, you, like the Gods in the famous 1980s film, must be crazy. She wearing flares (they go to the ground, and she rolled up the bottoms), a very saucy, Madonnaconesstyle bodysuit, neat, casualretro 1940s hair and of course, that whopping great red lip. It like something out of a movie. And I can help thinking she look back at photos of her at Coachella 2010 and feel delighted she put in this effort, rather than wearing tight denim cut offs and a loose singlet over a heavily visible bra like most of the attendees.
What saves it: Her trademark red lips seem like they would be too much at a music festival, but with pulled back hair and big sunglasses, it works. (Add bronzer and flattop, 80s style sunglasses if you not as paleskinned as DITA, and prefer a more sexyhousemusic filmclip red lip look.)
The hippy bird: Miss ALESSANDRA AMBROSIA

What saves it: The fact that if she got rid of the vest, boots, vest, bag, earrings, hat or sunglasses, she could look cute, instead of like a walking dreamcatcher.
The classic, girly bird: Miss KATE BOSWORTH
She the master of underplayed, and Miss BOSWORTH bare natural Coachella style stays true to this: a simple, loose, colourful dress, sandals, hair out and centreparted and simple Rayban aviators (not worn in this shot, obviously, unless they special invisible ones). To me this is failproof festival getup you look cool and casual, but still feminine and fun.
